LIAO Xiao, Ph.D.

Dr. Liao is responsible for daily operation of the Technology Transfer Center at SUSTech. He has facilitated technology transfer process of nearly 30 projects. He was in charge of the design and implementation of pilot reform plan for technology transfer policy at SUSTech and the exploration of VC-backed technology transfer ecosystem. Dr. Liao used to be the project manager of the applied science research center under the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission, directly managed 15 applied technology R&D projects (with a total amount of over 26 million Hong Kong dollars), and promoted the commercialization of 6 of the project outcomes. Dr. Liao is one of the inventors of the patent for the "CU mask+" issued by the Hong Kong government to the citizens of Hong Kong during COVID19 epidemic in 2020. Research outcome of Dr. Liao have won many awards, such as the Gold Award with Jury's Commendation at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions and the Hong Kong Industrial and Commercial Award for Equipment and Machine Design. Dr.  Liao is Shenzhen Overseas High-level Talents, Training Instructor of the National Technology Transfer Talent Training Base (Guangdong), and Training Lecturer for Technology Brokers of the National Technology Transfer South Center.
